Situated just south of the equator. Tanzania sits within the African Great Lakes region in East Africa. The official name is the United Republic of Tanzania with the national capital as Dodoma though its not the largest city. Dar es salaam is the former city and largest port of Tanzania. The Tanzania safari capital is Arusha.
Tanzania covers an area of 947, 303km2 (365,756sqmi) and the largest country in East Africa. Most of the mainland lies 600ft (200m). Mainland Tanzania is bordered by Kenya, Lake Victoria and Uganda in the North, Rwanda, Burundi, Lake Tanganyika and the Democratic Republic of Congo in the West, Zambia, Malawi Lake Nyasa and Mozambique to the south and the Indian Ocean to the east. The Kalambo waterfalls in the south western region of Bukwa are the second highest uninterrupted falls in Africa located near the south-eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika bordering Zambia.
Along the Indian Ocean are 15 islands and the Zanzibar archipelago of 10 islands with beautiful beaches. The islands of Pemba and mafia are fantastic with un spoilt reefs for diving and swimming.

Serengeti national park has the highest number of tourists inspired by the great wildebeest migration. Katavi National Park in western Tanzania has grass plains that host Impalas, elands, Topi’s, Zebra’s and herds of up to 1,600 buffalos.

Flora parks in Tanzania

Jozani-Chwaka Bay National Park is covered by the mature indigenous forest on Zanzibar island. Rare, endangered and endemic species that live here include Ader’s Duiker, as well as sykes monkeys, the Zanzibar colobus monkey, bush babies, African civet, giant elephant shrews and chameleons. Around 83 bird species as well as more than 100 species of brightly colored butterflies survive in this national park.
