Air Tanzania starts flights to Uganda
Direct flights from Tanzania to Uganda commenced
On Sunday 26th August 2018, Air Tanzania made its first flight to Entebbe International airport in Uganda honored with a water salute (a customary welcome in the aviation industry). Air Tanzania is the flag carrier for Tanzania with its base in Dar es salaam at Julius Nyerere international airport.
Domestically, it flies to Mbeya, Dodoma, Songea, Mwanza, Mbeya, Tabora, Kigoma, Mtwara and Bukoba. It is one great means of transportation for Tanzania safaris across the safari circuits.
Air Tanzania is a 76-seater Q400 series plane ready to offer affordable flights to the region with a total of 4-time flights per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday). The entry of Air Tanzania will definitely increase on the regional movements and boost trade within the two countries and the whole East African region. The introduction of Air Tanzania comes after Kenya airways and RwandAir that started flights in Uganda earlier.
The advantages that come with the commencing of Air Tanzania flights to Uganda include low fares ($363 for a return ticket to Entebbe), ability to customize travel by allowing excess luggage and issuing tickets that don’t expire.
The Managing Director and CEO of Air Tanzania -Eng. Landislaus Matindi stated that;
“The Wings of Kilimanjaro is proud to once again serve East Africa with direct flights and smooth connections to and from Tanzania. The service will enhance investment, trade and tourism opportunities in the region”.
Uganda is home to a lot of diversity including the rare mountain gorillas and 50% of Africa’s bird species which has persuaded many to plan Uganda gorilla safaris and bird watching tours in Uganda respectively. Air Tanzania is finally connecting the beauty in Uganda to that in Tanzania which is home to the wildebeest majorly in Serengeti national park.
Air Tanzania just came in at the right time when natural beauty should not be bound by any limitations. Plan either a Uganda safari or Tanzania safari and later on connect to the other destination so easily.
